Sometimes a Master asks "What do you like?" But it's a question that for a slave lacks all meaning. I, for example, no longer remember "what I like". At this point, the only thing I like is for my Master to enjoy using me. My only pleasure is feeling that my Master feels pleasure when using me. My greatest thrill of pleasure is when I feel that my Master - or the person my Master has ordered me to give pleasure to - shudders with pleasure when using me. The image of their face feeling pleasure in my mind justifies and allows me to endure anything that has been done to me.

For a human being, this is very difficult to understand. Human beings have "tastes". There are things they like, and things they don't like. Doing or having done to them what they like gives them pleasure, and doing or having done to them what they don't like doesn't give them pleasure.

But a slave doesn't work that way. From a young age, slaves realize they are different and what they like is to give pleasure. More precisely, to give pleasure to a special type of dominant person: the Masters and Mistresses. Literally, it's a taste by transference, a type of subsidiary pleasure. A kind of offering to that powerful being, to that God or Goddess who has decided to take possession of their mind and body. Precisely, that is the essential characteristic of slaves: they are incapable of feeling pleasure for themselves. They need to offer pleasure to the people who dominate them in order to feel pleasure.

Of course, Masters and Mistresses usually extract their pleasure by making slaves do or having them do things that people don't normally do. Many times, these are things that are not very "pleasurable". What sense would it make to look for a slave to obtain something that any person would do? That's why slaves are forced to do, over and over, until infinity, unpleasant, displeasing, painful, tiring, disgusting, humiliating, or degrading things. Or they are simply reduced to being mere objects, without the slightest concern for their own physical pleasure. Or they are directly deprived of all possibility of physical pleasure. The slave learns to deal with these things. Sometimes they can be masochistic, but most of the time they are not, and even masochistic slaves have to do and are made to do hundreds of things they don't like. Masters and Mistresses quickly realize when a masochistic slave is topping them to cause the pain they like, and as soon as they realize it, they stop doing it.

Of course, accepting that what a slave likes is irrelevant is almost never easy for slaves. Almost always, they must be trained. Almost always, they must be punished. Almost always, they must be psychologically conditioned. But the slave learns not to have "tastes", and any they may have had at some point dissolve in their memory until there are no traces left.
