The next day, Ipar receives a WhatsApp call on his mobile, the call he was waiting for.
• Ipar: “Hello, speaking”
• Rosston: “Hello, good morning, I’m Ossian Rosston Murray, well, everyone knows me as Rosston, my middle name; my surname is Murray. It’s about the cruise, I’ve been informed that you’re willing to share a cabin”
• Ipar: “Yes, the thing is that the person I was going to travel with won’t be doing so, and it’s better for me to share expenses”
• Rosston: “In my case, what happens is that the balcony cabins are sold out and I really don’t like interior ones at all”
• Ipar: “Perfect, it suits both of us, but I’m going to ask you one thing: send me all your details by email, because I’m the one who has the reservation, and from what I know, I’m the one who has to call to modify the reservation and include your details”
• Rosston: “You can call me informally, since we’re going to share a room… but I’ll ask you to send me an email and I’ll reply with my details; my email is orosstonmurray
@yahoo.co.uk”
That’s what they did and then Ipar forwarded the email to Alberto, who modified the reservation and replied with the updated reservation containing both their details. He also explained that, like all cruise passengers, when they arrived at the cabin they would find an envelope on the door with the two cards, which are used both to open the cabin and for any expense onboard the ship, but since they were going to arrive separately they should bear in mind that whoever arrived first should take their card from the envelope without forgetting to leave the envelope in the same place with the other person’s card. He also told him that he would leave a note in the computer system so that, when they arrived at the terminal, at reception, they would be reminded and it would be taken into account that they were going to arrive separately.
The day of embarkation arrived. Ipar arrived first, went through the terminal reception without problems, boarded the ship, took the elevator and went to deck 14, to cabin 14183. When he reached the door, he took the envelope, took the card with his name on it and, just as they had insisted, left the envelope on the door with the other one and entered the cabin. He took a first look and liked it, liked it a lot, even better than others he had been in. He went out onto the balcony for a while, then came in and set about arranging his clothes. He did so taking into account that he should leave space in the wardrobe and drawers for the other passenger.
He was doing that, almost finished, when he heard the door open.
