THE NEW GROOM IN THE STABLE

I’ve enjoyed reading the stories posted here for a long time, and now I feel like writing one of my own.

Let me introduce myself, my name is Gabriel, I’m 27 years old, fairly good-looking, 1.83 m tall, light-skinned, light brown almost blond hair, honey-colored eyes, a well-defined beard, and a good body; while I’m not much into the gym, I do get a lot of exercise both at work and at home.

This story begins in February 2025, we started the season and we were missing two grooms in the barn, I soon got two new employees, one of them only lasted a week and never came back.

Don Carlos, one of the oldest grooms in the barn, told me he had a nephew looking for work and wanted in, he recommended him saying he was a good worker, had experience working in a stable in Mexico, and was also a gallop rider who could help us a lot.

I told him to bring him and he said he’d bring him the next day.

The following morning around 6 am I got to the stables, they were getting horses ready to go to the track, and Don Carlos came up to me telling me he had left his nephew in the racetrack offices and he’d need the head trainer’s or assistant’s signature so they could give him his license to get in and out of the racetrack.

I immediately went to the offices to help him with the paperwork so he could start working.

I arrived, greeted the office staff and saw him, he was a skinny short guy about 1.65. Fair-skinned, short black hair, he looked like a little kid around 17-18 years old.

We stayed there a while and they did all the paperwork, they gave him his temporary license and we left for the stables.

On the way back we introduced ourselves more formally, his name was Rafael, he was 18 at the time, close to turning 19 in March according to what he told me, he told me he had only been in California a couple of months and wanted to work there to start his career as a professional jockey.
