Paulus was an enigma to Clemente. He believed he knew ñakislav and painboy well and could boast of having trained them, one since his capture as a slave. For several days, he interrogated him roughly, and yet, he knew few things about him.

He managed to partially reconstruct his story. He was born in 2000 in Kaunas, Lithuania, and had no siblings. His mother had died very young, and he was raised solely by his father, who wandered between semi-gangster jobs in his country (Lithuania) and Kaliningrad, the Russian enclave in the Baltic Sea, where he was under the control of the Russian Master, who literally bought the adolescent Paulus from his father, who handed him over for some money. He died alcoholized and distant from the slave apprentice. From a very young age, the Russian Master trained him as a slave, with those harsh and severe treatments that both Clemente and ñakislav knew perfectly.

Tough training but effective. Bend body and mind, submit the spirit. Concern for physical condition and absolute devotion and surrender to the Master. Paulus turned out to be an excellent slave: he never complained or rebelled, did everything he was told, always willing. Clemente suspected that he had some autistic spectrum syndrome: he spoke little, was extremely concentrated, and absolutely determined to achieve what he was ordered. He did not express his feelings under any circumstances.

The Russian Master had designed a destiny for him: to be in charge of his finances, for which he earned a degree in finance from Vilnius University, which he passed with excellent grades. Along with his education, he developed a spectacular physique, achieved with two hours of daily training, machines, and sports practice. He was tall (185 cm), athletic (76 kg), with blue eyes, white skin, blond hair, no body hair, and what little he had was depilated weekly, with a cold and piercing gaze, and had that typical German voice tone, so hard, mixed with the hoarse voice of the Slavs.

He was indecipherable. When Iñaki met him, he found him to be a very attractive young man but impossible to understand. Distant, cold, expressionless, lacking a minimum of sympathy. He only greeted and did nothing more, but was always attentive to what his Master wanted, pleasing him, satisfying him, and always obeying him. For Paulus, only the Master's will existed, which is why when the Russian Master disappeared, he was confused and clung to Iñaki, who came to feel him like a pair, although that relationship never existed. He found him pleasant, attractive, even felt tenderness for him, but there was never any reciprocity. Paulus could be kind, but he had no emotional commitment to Iñaki.

When Clemente appeared, it was easy for him to impose himself on Paulus; in fact, Paulus naturally recognized him as his Master and treated him as such from that moment on.
