I LOVE REAL No. 2 - THE SECRETARY (I): THE BEGINNING OF HIS SUBMISSION

Marcos is the beginning of everything. If I'm here today, it's because he had the key to a world unknown to me, but which I already carried within, latent. He was the one who knew how to read between the lines and awaken my true nature. He was my secretary, my friend, and finally, he was the first witness to my design as Master. That's why it makes perfect sense that I start telling about him.

THE EXEMPLARY SECRETARY

Marcos had been working as my secretary for several months, well, that's what I call him, but his actual position was Management Assistant, one of the most demanding in the company, the one I directed. When Laura, the head of human resources, stopped me in the office hallway.

"Hey, you should take Marcos to one of those beach hotels that the company has a contract with. The kid has busted his ass these months, and I think he deserves recognition."

It wasn't difficult at all, because booking those hotels was a benefit that the company gave to its executives, and Laura was right: Marcos was an impeccable worker. It had been hard to fill that position; the previous kid was fired because it was a very demanding area. We had had several assistants, and they all left because they didn't meet the standards. So, Laura, the General Management, and I were interested in retaining Marcos, because things were working very well.

Anyway, Marcos was then 22 years old, younger than me, but not by much, very thin, disheveled, with black plastic glasses, that kind of kid who goes unnoticed in a room but does his job fantastically. I valued him a lot.

He always arrived before me, had my coffee ready on my desk, the reports ready, the calls managed, stayed late by choice, answered emails on weekends, and seemed to live to make my life easier. We worked perfectly together at the office, and sincerely, he was my favorite on the team. He seemed to read my mind, knew what I was going to want before I even thought about it. We formed a perfect team, and after many work adventures, we had become very good friends. What I didn't know then was that the bastard had a plan, from the first job interview I gave him, when he applied for the position.
