THE WEEKEND THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING

Juan closed the car door and took a deep breath as he gazed at the cabin in front of the lake. After months of work and family responsibilities, he had finally arrived at the moment to relax. Pedro was already unloading the fishing rods from the trunk, whistling a melody that Juan didn't recognize.

"Hey, dude! Are you going to stand there like an idiot or help me?" Pedro shouted with that mocking smile he had since they were kids in the neighborhood.

Juan approached, laughing. They had been friends since they were eight, had grown up together, had gotten girlfriends almost at the same time, had gotten married a few months apart, and now, at 33, they were still the same idiots as always. Well, almost the same. Both had developed good physiques over the years - Juan with his gym workouts near home and Pedro with his swimming and running routine. Their wives always joked about how "good-looking" their husbands were, but they had never had the chance to really compare.

"Damn it, Pedro, you brought enough food for a month," Juan complained as he carried a heavy cooler.

"It's because you eat like a pig, brother. We have to be prepared."

They spent the afternoon assembling the fishing rods, drinking beers, and catching up on neighborhood gossip. The conversation flowed as always, full of mutual teasing and laughter. When it started to get dark, they decided to prepare something for dinner.

"Dude, I shit myself," Pedro announced suddenly, wrinkling his nose. "Literally. It must be the cheap beer I had on the way. I need to change right now."

Juan burst out laughing. "You're disgusting, Pedro. Go change, I'll finish preparing the fire."

Pedro disappeared into the cabin while Juan continued arranging the firewood. When he was crouched down building the fire, he heard a shout that made him jump.

"Juan! Come here for a second!"

He left what he was doing and ran in. Pedro was standing in the bathroom, completely naked, with a panicked expression.

"Hey, brother, I have a problem. I shit all over myself and when I went to wash up in the shower, the soap slipped and went down the drain. But the worst part is this..."

Pedro pointed to the sink where all his clothes were, soaked and dripping.

"The pipe burst when I tried to wash my clothes. Everything is flooded and I don't have a single damn change of clothes. I forgot to bring spare clothes."

Juan looked at the mess in the bathroom and then at his friend, who was standing there like nothing was wrong, completely naked.

"Well, dude, put on something of mine while all this dries out."

"There's the thing. Your clothes are in the car and the keys fell into all this mess. They're down there in the dirty water. I can't pick them up now."

Juan sighed. "Okay, I'll go get something from the car. I have spare keys."
