Chapter 3, The Clown, His Degradation, and the Audience

Don Risitas and Señor Jajá enter with exaggerated steps, greeting the audience with bows. Cheerful circus music plays.

• Don Risitas: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the circus of heavy jokes! I'm Don Risitas and this is Señor Jajá, today we have our most pathetic, small, and fat clown... Guarrillo!"

Señor Jajá pulls Guarrillo's collar, forcing him to crawl to the center; Guarrillo tries to get up but Don Risitas puts a foot on his back, keeping him on the ground.

• Señor Jajá: "Don't get up, Guarrillo! You're so small that you shouldn't even try. How short are you? A meter? Less?"

• Don Risitas: "And look how fat he is! He's a dwarf pig and chubby! I bet his clown mother, that drunkard, fed him with liquor leftovers and cake!"

The audience bursts into laughter while Guarrillo, crawling, lets out a weak "Oink, oink!" and lowers his head, ashamed.

Don Risitas takes out a megaphone and starts ridiculing Guarrillo in front of the audience.

• Don Risitas: "Look at this clown! So small that he seems like a circus dwarf, and so fat that his butt doesn't fit in the corral. And do you know what? His clown mother was so drunk that she forgot him in a pigsty!"

Señor Jajá crouches next to Guarrillo, measures him with a wooden meter, and pretends to be shocked.

• Señor Jajá: "It's true, Don Risitas! He's a dwarf pig and fat. I don't know how he can be so small and so fat at the same time! It must be because of all the garbage his drunk mother gave him to eat."

Guarrillo, crawling, tries to hide behind the corral, but Señor Jajá pulls him by the collar and puts him back in the center, the audience laughs nonstop.

Don Risitas and Señor Jajá invite the audience to participate in a "nickname contest" for Guarrillo.

• Don Risitas: "Ladies and gentlemen, let's give Guarrillo the nicknames he deserves! What name would you give to this dwarf pig and fat clown?"

The audience starts shouting nicknames while Don Risitas and Señor Jajá repeat them with enthusiasm:

• Audience: "Pig, Dwarf Pig, Loser!"

• Señor Jajá: "Great! Dwarf Pig, because he's small and pathetic."

• Audience: "Dirty Fat!"

• Don Risitas: "Perfect! Dirty Fat, because he's so fat and dirty that even his drunk mother wouldn't recognize him."

• Audience: "Pig Butt!"

• Señor Jajá: "That's the best! Pig Butt, because his butt is so big that it could fill an entire corral."

Guarrillo, crawling, covers his face with shame while the audience applauds and laughs at the nicknames.

Don Risitas and Señor Jajá decide to involve the audience in the punishments to humiliate Guarrillo even more.
