Estas esfinges colosales de granito rojo eran guardianas de su templo. Organizó una famosa expedición comercial a la tierra de Punt que trajo mirra, ébano, marfil, oro y árboles de incienso vivos. Su reinado fue de paz y gran prosperidad arquitectónica. Tras su muerte, Tutmosis III intentó borrar su memoria destruyendo o escondiendo muchas de sus estatuas, pero muchas se han recuperado y restaurado, como las que ves aquí.
